LIONEL MESSI has won an unprecedented seventh Ballon d’Or. The Argentine edged out Robert Lewandowski and Chelsea’s Jorginho, who came third. Messi’s great rival Cristiano Ronaldo, who did not attend the ceremony, finished down in sixth place. That marks the first time the Portugal captain has finished outside the top three since 2010.
