BECAUSE of the rise of inflation in the US, Social Security beneficiaries may receive a much larger cost-of-living-adjustment (COLA) in 2023. Next year’s COLA is projected to be even higher than the 5.9 percent that went into effect in 2022 due to the Consumer Price Index (CPI), which increased up to 8.5 percent for the 12-month period ending March 2022, the highest rise since 1981.
