This weekend’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations will feature the return of a historic royal artifact, which hasn’t been seen in public for more than twenty years. Queen Elizabeth’s Gold State Coach, a lavish gilded carriage that’s more than 200 years old, will lead the Jubilee pageant from Westminster Abbey to Buckingham Palace on Sunday, June 5. The carriage has a special significance, because it transported the 25-year-old Queen Elizabeth from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Abbey on the day of her coronation on June 2, 1953.
