Masterpiece PBS Is Developing a New Adaptation of Tom Jones

Masterpiece PBS has announced its next adaptation. The popular anthology series is developing Tom Jones, a reimagining of Henry Fielding’s beloved 1749 novel . Solly McLeod (The Rising) will star in the four-part series as the eponymous Tom, while Sophie Wilde (You Don’t Know Me) will play female lead Sophia Western. Fielding’s is a picaresque novel, an early literary genre which focuses on a roguish but lovable underdog hero on a series of adventures. In this case, he’s on a search for real love.
