Not Okay Explores the Dark Side of Viral Fame
Last year, moviegoers (though, not very many of them) met Evan Hansen, a lying schemer who manipulated tragedy and good will to his own selfish advantage. The film Dear Evan Hansen, based on the smash hit stage musical, was criticized for a variety of sins, but perhaps chief among them was the fact that not only does the titular character not face much punishment for his heinous social crimes, he’s sort of redeemed at the end.
