AN incredibly rare Lincoln penny has sold for an astonishing $1.7million, with an obscure reason behind its sky-high price. The 1943 rare coin was sold in 2010, with an unnamed businessman adding it to his collection for a hefty fee, according to Certified Coin Consultants.
