そんな定番のスニーカーだが、それぞれの特徴や履きこなし方、メンテナンスの方法はどのように異なるのだろうか？ 今さら聞けない定番スニーカーに関するあれこれの「きほん」を、業界内でも絶大な支持を集める スタイリスト・野口強さんが分かりやすく解説。

1. 環境負荷が低い代替素材が登場！
ファッション産業で使用される生地の65%は合成繊維でポリエステルが占める率が最も高い。石油からの合成原料のみで作られるポリエステルは石油による環境負荷と切り離せない上、自然素材に比べて圧倒的な温室効果ガスを排出し、綿との比較では製造過程において約3倍の二酸化炭素を排出する。
綿はその他の生地の35%、生地全体でいえば21％を占める素材。生産は中国、インド、オーストラリア、ブラジル、北米とパキスタンに集中している。綿花栽培は児童就労の問題を抱え、ウィグル人の抑留問題と関連して中国産の綿花を使用する大手ブランドはこの問題に加担しているとされる。

こうした遅れは、それまで語られなかった不妊治療セクターの実態をさらけ出すことになった。まず、不妊治療は女性にほとんど選択肢がないシステムであること。また、透明性の欠如により、女性が十分な情報を得た上で自分で決断することが妨げられていることだ。

水曜日、アメリカ食品医薬品局（FDA）は新型コロナワクチンの追加接種について、モデルナとジョンソン・エンド・ジョンソンの緊急使用を承認した。これにより、追加接種では混合接種を正式に許可することになる。つまり、希望すれば、先に受けたワクチンと異なるメーカーのワクチンを追加接種に選ぶことができるということだ。
FDAは追加接種に同じワクチンを選ぶよう推奨はしないが、同じワクチンを接種するのが理想的だとも述べていない。
今回のモデルナとジョンソン・エンド・ジョンソンの追加接種の緊急使用認可は、先月アメリカでFDAから使用が認可されたファイザー／ビオンテックのワクチンに加わるもの。
