Deep Water Is Neither Erotic Nor Thrilling

Deep Water had all the elements to be a good movie: a stacked cast that includes Ben Affleck, Tracy Letts, and Jacob Elordi; a gorgeous Louisiana mansion; a script based off a classic 1957 Patricia Highsmith novel; Adriane Lyn, the same director as Fatal Attraction; and Ana de Armas, full stop. But Disney’s first erotic thriller in nearly three decades is more Puritan than it is erotic, and more perplexing than it is thrilling.
