RARE $5 coins can be worth far more than their face value, with one such coin recently selling for almost $1200 online. The circulated 1891 Carson City (CC) coin, featuring Liberty on the front and a half eagle on the reverse, sold for $1,178 after collectors submitted 22 bids.
